The next City of Sanger General Election will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 7 am to 7 pm, to elect Councilmembers for Place 1, Place 3, and Place 5 for a two-year term.

City of Sanger City Council Elected Officials and Terms
The City Council consists of a Mayor and five Council Members, all of whom are elected at large. Positions are numbered one through five consecutively. The terms of the Mayor and Council members shall be for two years. The Mayor and Council Places two and four, shall be elected in even numbered years, and Council Places one, three and five shall be elected in odd numbered years. Regular City Council Meetings are on the first and third Monday of every month, unless the meeting falls on a holiday which then moves the meeting to Tuesday. Filing Period
Applications will be available for pick-up for filing for a place on the ballot at Sanger City Hall, 502 Elm Street, Sanger, Texas.
- The first day to file for a place on ballot is January 18, 2023 at 7:30 am
- The last day to File for a place on the ballot is February 17, 2023 by 5 pm

Monday through Thursday
7:30 am to 5 pm
Friday
7:30 to 11 am
Qualifications / Eligibility to File
City of Sanger Home Rule Charter Section 3.04 Code of Ordinances
Each candidate for an elective office shall meet the following qualifications:
- Be a qualified voter
- Be 21 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable
- Must have resided in the State for twelve months and within the City limits for twelve months immediately preceding the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot
- Shall not be employed by the City
- Shall meet all other eligibility requirements of the Texas Election Code
